DLZ Project Helps Restore Lake Huron Reef Habitat
An environmental project designed by DLZ Michigan is making a positive impact on the environment in Lake Huron’s Thunder Bay. The project, conceived and implemented by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), is the construction of man-made reefs to provide additional spawning habitat for native fish species including lake trout, lake whitefish and walleye. DLZ designed the reef structures and provided construction oversight, project management and planning, and data collection support. Read the article in the MDEQ’s April newsletter here.
