Lake Michigan Potential Damages Study
Bluff Line Erosion and Low Water Damage Assessment
Michigan and Wisconsin Counties
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

DLZ was retained by the Corps of Engineers to conduct an economic damage assessment for bluff line erosion action on Lake Michigan and low water levels on connected inland lakes. The Lake Michigan Potential Damage Assessment (LMPDS) was a benchmark effort to define the natural systems at work in Lake Michigan and predict damages given current lake shore land use.

Five counties, two in Michigan and three in Wisconsin, were included in this first phase of the damage assessment. DLZ provided project management, developed GIS applications, developed relational database tools, and managed data collection and data dissemination for the project.
