Indefinite Delivery Drilling Services Contract
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

DLZ has performed numerous drilling services delivery orders for the Pittsburgh District to supoort its navigation, flood control, and ecosystems restoration missions. DLZ conducted drilling on land and from floating barges to collect both geotechnical and environmental information under stringent Corps of Engineers protocols.

To be selected as a Corps of Engineers drilling contractor, DLZ demonstrated a broad scope of capabilities and specialized drilling proficiencies. DLZ utilized its diverse fleet of skid, truck, and all-terrain carrier-mounted rigs and array of tooling capable of completing large diameter boreholes and rock coring to depths greater than 350 ft. Soil sampling was conducted with continous split spoons, Laskey samplers, and large and small undisturbed Shelby tube piston samplers. Pressure testing with conventional and wireline packers as well as in-situ bedrock shear testing with Mennard Pressure Meter was conducted on the Lower Monogahela Rehabilitation Study, which represented the largest single drilling project ever performed for the Ohio River Division.
